Fragments of session 6 - Leuven Free session : Valentines´s Day, sweethearts, Carnival etc. Teacher It's been a very busy week of socializing (visiting friends and having friends here for dinner). I've also restored an old school table my husband brought home from his college. He intended to use it as a garage table for his tools, but I thought it was too worthy . So we started sanding it and I put some bees wax on it. You should see it now. I'm so proud I'm having the table in my living-room! Our son Pieter has been ill all week and I also visited a dermatologist with my son Bert, who's got a strange skin infection. We're still waiting for the final diagnosis... We haven't celebrated carnival here. We only went to church on Ash Wednesday and I made some pancakes for the children. How was your carnival ? Wet and dirty, I presume, if you're using water and flour... (...) We returned to school on Monday and started with a film in the Leuven film theaters for our senior students. Next week we're having an African day in the 4th year with all kinds of workshops, an African market, etc. The aim is to have pupils look over the rim of their own world and indulge in a completely different one. This year we've chosen to work on human rights in South-Africa, because one of our teachers spent a few years there teaching and she's got lots of materials to show the pupils. In my English lesson I'll be reading a poem by a South-African writer that focusses on the difference between whites and blacks. I hope the pupils will be interested. Ann (back to top) Students My vacation was quite relaxing, the first weekend I had Flemish championship of swimming. Mmy results were quite disappointing. During the rest of the vacation I read a book and watched the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. Jeroen (back to top) My vacation wasn't very exciting. I went to some friends or played on my computer. I also celebrated carnival. It was very funny. We had a great time. After that I worked in our garden with my brothers and my mom. Pieter (back to top) Two weeks ago I couldn't even imagine myself having a boyfriend, and now I have one!!! I'm so happy. I thought I would be alone on valintines day, but I wasn't!!! now we are almost 2 weeks together!!! I hope he'll be my boyfriend for a long time... Last Saturday we made that tape. It sounded good and we went to Nadine (the one we promised to make the tape for) she was crazy about it!! Now she wants us to send the tape to a record compagny!! I don't know yet if we'll really do that, but if we do, it could be the beginning of our singing career. But only if the record compagny likes it... Monique (back to top) I went to the Netherlands with my best friend, Lynn, I liked it a lot, we made long walks on the beach, it was cold, but I enjoyed it a lot. We played with the cards and went to the village, that was very cosy. We went there 4 days. Ellien (back to top) In the evening we had a sleepover at Ellen's place, Elien was also there. On Friday I went to my dad in Lubbeek. On Saturday I was still with my dad and we went swimming in Sint-Truiden. On Sunday I went to Elien together with Ellen, because we had to make a work for Dutch. Lynn (back to top) On Friday we made clothes for the kunstbende, because, we're also going to do a fashion show! Saturday I went to go shopping in Louvain, and in the afternoon there was an African church service from the JOVi, it was a lot of fun,!! Liesbeth (back to top) My friends made a CD in the vacation, really good !!!!! The name of their band is defloration , and me and Yannick , my best friend, are their biggest fans , so we made t-shirts and posters . We call ourselves the deflorationpromoteam. theCD has really nice songs like dopingcookies , princepessa and wally, the shitbird !! if you ever find a cd of a band called defloration in your musicshop : buy it !!!!!!! Greet (back to top) And how was your Valentine's Day ???? Had any luck ? I must confess, I don't have a boyfriend, but I still had a great time. I went out with my sister ( she's 22 years old), first we went for some ice cream and a drink in the city, then we went to the movies to catch the late movie ( at 11.30), we went to see Ocean's Eleven, the new movie with Brad Pitt and George Clooney. I have to say that they are very good looking guys, a great idea for Valentine's day!! ( and the movie is not too bad either). Lisa (back to top) Do you often go out? My parents don't allow me to go out very often, but I try to sleep over at my friends, so that my parents don't know about it. We had a lot of fun and we made a campfire . We talked a lot and we came back exhaustedly . The day after it (Monday) I didn't go to school because I was sick. Jan (back to top) On Saturday, the first day of the vacation, I played volleyball. We lost with 4-1. After the match, took a shower and I went to the play of Lien De Groef, a girl of our class. She played really well and we gave her a beautiful, red rose when the play was finished. She was happy. Katrien (back to top) Friday after school I go with my friends to "De Oude Markt"it's a large market with many cafés.In the evening I go to the drawing lesson and after that I usually go to a party. Frederique (back to top) I helped my mom with hanging the wallpaper in the room that is going to be the computer room. But most of all I had fun with my friends and my brother. I did nothing very special. Gil (back to top) Do you know Lenny Kravitz????!!!!! he's a great singer and I love him. If you don't know him I'll send you a picture. he's so fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I made a few new songs with Eslin, Elien and Lynn. I think the song with Eslin will be a world hit. Ellen (back to top) And Thurday afternoon, I went to two of my good friends Pieter-jan and Winne and they play together in a band and I made a cake for them. I'm their fanclub. And Friday until Sunday I went on a weekend with a kind of youth movement and Jan of my class was there too! Tine (back to top) In my vacation, I went to the United Kingdom for 3 days. I've visited London for 2 days. The Big Ben and Buckingham Palace were beautiful. My sister got ill, she had to go to hospital. Wouter (back to top) I didn't celebrate carnival, so I can't talk about that. I didn't do many things outside because the weather was terrible. I played a little bit on the computer.
