Easter is the major religious feast here. People
go to church and pray during Holy Week every day. On Holy Thursday
we visit seven churches where we pray with our families. On Holy
Friday, many people make the stations of the cross in open air
on a hill, in the streets of the city or in some places around
the city.
In my family, we prepare Fanesca every year. Fanesca i a typical
dish made with fresh grain and salty fish. I like it very much.
Also we use to prepare a dessert called "Rice with milk".
We have a week off during Easter. I use to wash the courtains
and windows of my house. Many people go to the beach during Holy
Week. For me , Holy Week means something special because we remember
the death and Resurrection of Jesus.

All people pray the "Viacrusis" that is a prayer that
remembers the
stations of the cross. In our families we usually get together on
Holy Friday to eat "Fanesca" that ia soup made with all
kinds of grains and
fish (Neither Mònica or me like it.), this is all we can
eat because in this
day we are not allowed to eat meat.

In the town that I use to go most of the people are poor. We
all get together and everybody donates some food like fish, corn,
beans, etc. We all get together to make the Fanesca,
on Sunday in the towns church around 100 people get baptized,
this is a tradition there.

On Holy Thursday, the families prepare Fanesca. Fanesca is a
typical dish of Holy Week in Ecuador. Fanesca is prepared with a
mixture of beans, codfish, peanut, milk, water, and other delicious
things. My mother and my sister Monica prepare it deliciously. Later
at night we visit seven churches and we pray some parts of the Holy
Rosary.

I am going to tell you something about holy week. We celebrate
holy week in
a very different way than in your country, I usually go to church
and a lot
of people pray. On Holy Friday, many people make the stations of
the cross
in open air, on a hill or we watch the stations that the pope does
in
Rome on TV.
